Greetings from Yourland!

We're very excited about the state of the project.  Currently, our demolition team is hard at work, finalizing the internal demolition and abatement of the space which should be completed in the middle of February. This process is essentially bringing the building down to its core.  Below are a few pictures of the site in its current state: notice the bare walls, concrete floors and the beautiful hand-constructed wooden roof trusses in the ceiling of the old Walgreens space.

With demolition being complete in the near future we'll be looking forward to tenant improvement and the building out of the space.  Yourland project manager Michael Hassett sums where we are at: "We're very excited about the state of the project.  Right now we're actively looking for one or two more leases to push us over the edge so that we can begin construction and the rehabilitation of the space."  We are currently in conversation with several groups that we would love to see at Yourland, and we're working very hard to close this portion of development in the upcoming weeks.

As we have been moving along in tenant development we have received a great interest in the project from the design community.  We've had conversations with designers of all kinds who have varying interests and needs.  This influx of designers has lead us in the direction of developing the idea of a Yourland Design Center.  We see an incredible opportunity for synergistic relationships among this emerging community of designers that is sure to bring depth and vitality to Yourland.

The Welcome Diner has experienced a last minute change of plans.  As we announced in our previous Yourland newsletter, we had plans to move the diner immediately from its current location at 10th St. and Roosevelt down to Yourland.  As we were packing up the diner and saying our last goodbyes an unforeseen opportunity emerged which allowed us to continue to operate that beautiful little diner car.  It has always been our desire to stay on Roosevelt and now we're excited to announce that the Welcome Diner will not be relocating but expanding to 16th St.  Look for the Yourland Welcome Diner to open later on this year!

In celebration of its return to Roosevelt, the Welcome Diner is now hosting events and is now open for the 1st and 3rd Friday art walk!  The first of these events took place on January 8th as we hosted "Green Drinks", a networking mixer of the Phoenix Green Chamber of Commerce.  Here are a few pictures from the event:

There were about 100 people in attendance and we had a great evening of hamburgers and hotdogs, beer and wine, and social networking for the eco-conscious business community of Phoenix.  If you know of anyone who is looking for a great place to host an event be sure to send them our way.  And if you're in the neighborhood for the art walk drop in and say hello.  We look forward to seeing you and serving you!

Lastly, please enjoy one of our latest conceptual images of the Yourland entertainment zone.  If you look closely you can see the concept of a brewery to the right, something we’ve been in conversation about for a bit now.  As you can see, Yourland draws a diverse crowd... Even Justin Timberlake shows up from time to time!

All the best!
